Role: Engineering Apprentices

Salary: Start GBP16,000 per annum with annual increases throughout your apprenticeship, 4 year apprentice

Location: Northern Cumbria, the North East and much of Yorkshire

We are recruiting for Engineer Apprentices across our Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical and Instrumentation specialisms

Location: You may apply if you are based within any of our Network regions (Northern Cumbria, the North East and much of Yorkshire)

Travel will be required to the Training Centre (with accommodation provided) in York

with annual increases throughout your apprenticeship

Course duration: 4 years

So, who are we?

We are Northern Gas Networks.

We are a team of underground and over-ground heroes that keep our 2,700,000 customers in the North of England 'cooking on gas'.

Our network is VAST and measures the same as travelling from our headquarters in Leeds, UK to Sydney, Australiaand then back again!

You will eventually be part of maintaining over 6000 pressure reduction installations and more than 1200km's of high pressure pipeline.

It's pretty mind-blowing, when you think about it..

However, we are not 'just pipes' either!

Take our H21 project, for example. This project supports the conversion of the UK gas networks from natural gas to hydrogen. This will reduce carbon emissions in line with the UK commitment to achieve net zero by 2050 Talk about changing the future!

This connected some of the most vulnerable in our society, with cold-related ill health/ respiratory conditions to the gas grid for the first time ever. Yes, ever! Because of our incredible workforce, they will now stay warm this winter (and we all know it's pretty cold up North)!

The only 'ask' from us, is that you meet the essential criteria for course entry:

Entry criteria for the apprenticeship is above including English, Science and Maths which must be a grade 5. Must be 18+ to apply.

due to important health and safety considerations for these roles

If you are unable to drive, not to worry, we will invest in you to obtain your full drivers' licence also!

Day-to-day, these are some of the things you will encounter as an NGN Engineer:

?? Responding to emergency situations

?? Repairing complex equipment on mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installations

?? Driving our NGN branded vehicles

?? Using a wide range of tools and specialist equipment

?? Using laptops, tablets and mobile phones to update your work progress

?? Working in remote locations

?? Wearing protective clothing and PPE

?? Working safely and efficiently often in the public eye

We are offering the below apprenticeships:

?? Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

?? Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship

Subject to course completion, you will then begin your career at NGN in one of the below specialisms:

?? Mechanical Maintenance

?? Electrical

?? Instrumentation/ control
