Here at Raindrop we're redefining what saving for retirement looks like for the self-employed.
We're addressing the need of the 5 million UK freelancers in which only 16% are paying into a pension, by
creating a truly digital and flexible way to save for their future.
With no employer, they're often on their own when it comes to insurance, pensions and other financial
safety nets that most of the UK workforce has in place.
But we also understand that traditional savings products just don't work for someone who doesn't know
what their income is going to be each month, and we're building our product accordingly.
It's an exciting time to join Raindrop as we've just closed our funding round, and we'll officially launch our
product to our early adopters next month.
Given the current environment we want the self-employed community to know that we're here for them,
even if the UK government sometimes isn't, so that we can help them save for their future without
compromising their present. That's our mission.
What you'll do (The Role)
As an early-stage employee your role will be broad and evolve to meet the needs of the company.
Our MVP is almost complete, and we aim to launch in early September. You will be working closely with the
CPO and CTO to finalise the MVP, plan the next round of features, and build on the customer journey and
user experience we have in place.
We are looking for an experienced developer who wants to grow into a Lead Front-End engineer role.
You'll need to be a self-starter that can adapt and learn quickly. Beyond writing code you'll be:
* Working with our compliance team to ensure the product meets regulatory standards
* Taking the lead on implementation decision to deliver a sustainable and scalable stack
* Helping to build and inspire a team of developers to join our mission
* Providing input on customer journeys and UX
* Drive Front-End technology adoption - frameworks, stacks etc.
What we're looking for (Essential)
- 3+ years of experience building modern web applications using ReactJS 16.x.x
- Evidence of taking ownership of building features end to end.
- Evidence of taking initiative to drive results.
- Rigorous testing strategy
- SOLID principles of components design
- Someone who has strong team and communication skills and is commercially minded when
prioritising tech delivery
- Someone with a passion for technological innovation - particularly in the finance space
- Shares our vision of helping the financially excluded self-employed meet their retirement goals
Nice-to-haves (Desirable)
- Experience with third party payment solutions and KYC/AML solutions
- Experience working in FinTech
- A keen understanding of UI/UX and lean processes
- Server-side technologies
- DevOps experience/exposure. Experience working on cloud-based solutions (we use AWS)
- Personal projects / developer blog
- SQL / NoSQL databases
