Job description

Learn from the best. Enhance your strengths. Make decisions go further.

To stay competitive, companies often need to buy, sell, merge or restructure parts of their business. Join the EY Strategy and Transactions Business Apprenticeship Programme and you'll help organisations stay ahead of the competition while earning a great salary, gaining invaluable work experience and studying for a professional qualification. We're not only setting you up for personal achievement, we're setting you up for a long-term career in a place where progression is valued highly and belonging comes as second nature.

What is Strategy and Transactions at EY?

Economies are fuelled by competitive organisations who buy, sell, merge or restructure parts of their business with others. Within Strategy and Transactions, we help organisations do all that while making more informed decisions and building better strategies for our clients. By advising them on capital solutions, we give way to fast and authentic growth that will re-shape their operations.

Our apprenticeship programme sits within T urnaround and Restructuring Strategy and this is where we advise organisations - and other affected parties - when they are underperforming or in need of help. Through independent analysis, we help them either get back on track or go through insolvency procedures like administration or receivership.

As a member of this team, you'll work across complex deals while driving economic and social change. You'll use your diverse thinking to influence key projects and contribute to large-scale topics. And, you'll build a unique career you can be truly proud of.

What will you be doing?

You'll get straight to work on real client projects and over the course of the programme, you can expect to contribute to challenging assignments and learn how to make quick, practical decisions. And you'll never be alone in those decisions, with your line manager always there to support you.

You'll also be:

  • Solving urgent and important business problems by analysing data and proposing solutions for underperforming businesses
  • Undertaking an array of tasks required to manage a company that is going through an insolvency process
  • Assisting with solvent and insolvent processes

Throughout, you'll study to become a qualified chartered accountant through the ICAEW in England or ICAS in Scotland, and you'll have support from your team, too. At the end of the programme, you'll have gained professional qualifications, lots of practical experience and built a strong network of mentors and peers to help you keep developing. This is how you come closer to building a better career in our better working world.

Entry requirements

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don't screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and to have completed three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) by the time the programme starts.

"From the moment you begin, you will be taken on different adventures, challenged every single day and exposed to so many new things. The experiences and culture at EY are unique: we empower and we transform." Annabelle, Strategy and Transactions Apprentice
