Support Worker

Required to work with a young man with a brain injury in his own home in the Barnstaple area.  He is able to walk independently and manage all his own personal care, but requires some assistance when walking outdoors and in prompting to remember appointments, to take medication, healthy eating etc.  He enjoys socialising in the local community and is generally amenable and friendly but can become het up at times. The client has two young children who do not live with him but he does see them several times a week. He also owns a small friendly dog.

The support worker needs to be able to motivate the client and support him with memory and planning, accompanying him to participate in community activities such as going to the gym, swimming, cycling, home maintenance tasks and DIY, and assisting with care for the dog, enabling him to be an independent individual.  He also needs support with access visits of his children.

Previous experience working in similar role and full driving licence are essential.

An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in care is desirable.

An interest in cycling, practical / home maintenance skills would be beneficial.

43.5 hours over a 2 week period:

Week 1:

Wednesday 9.30am - 6.00pm

Saturday & Sunday 10.00am – 4.00pm

Week 2:

Monday & Wednesday 9.30am – 6.00pm

Sunday 10.00am – 4.00pm

Plus, cover for holiday and sickness.

£12.00 - £14.00 per hour

This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.

You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
