A leading manufacturer of high quality & bespoke epoxy products based in Hampshire wish to recruit a forward-thinking Senior Development Chemist with epoxy formulation experience. The position will provide support to our Technical Director from our modern laboratory.
BASIC SALARY: GBP40,000 - GBP45,000

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Senior Development Chemist / Applications Chemist / R & D Chemist : Epoxy
You must have epoxy formulation experience and in addition to this, we would like applications from candidates who have:
?? A degree in a Chemistry or Polymer related subject with practical experience of epoxy formulation
?? Experience of epoxy systems, polyurethane chemistry exposure and/or polymer characterisation techniques such as thermal analysis and mechanical testing.
?? Experience of working in a laboratory, ideally in one of the following Chemical arenas: Resins, Epoxies, MMA and Acrylics
?? Awareness of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements
JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Development Chemist / Applications Chemist / R & D Chemist : Epoxy
The role of Senior Development Chemist is to contribute to the development of Epoxy systems (including West System and PRO-SET epoxy products) used extensively in the marine and composite industries and to investigate customer problems as required. Development of polyurethane foams for use in the gas industry may also be required, so knowledge of polyurethane chemistry would be an advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Development Chemist / Applications Chemist / R & D Chemist : Epoxy
Key duties of the role will be as follows:
?? Formulation of epoxy systems, predominantly for adhesive and composite applications
?? Analysis of experimental results and writing technical service reports
?? Evaluating the suitability of alternative raw materials in existing formulations
?? Testing of mechanical properties in accordance with ASTM standards
?? Thermal analysis (DSC and DMA) of cured polymers
?? FT-IR analysis of raw materials and formulated systems
?? Writing technical service reports
?? Assisting with quality control tests
