Automation Developer required by market leading, award winning organisation based in Birmingham. The successful candidate will work initially from home with the odd day in the office. The successful candidate must have a background with Azure/Cloud Systems with the ambition to move into DevOps in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, build and deploy pipelines to optimise code delivery & configure infrastructure with Octopus Deploy/Azure DevOps Pipelines/similar
  • Utilise APIs to deliver solutions - both internally developed and 3rd party Cloud services
  • Working with Jira to pick up new work items, estimate completion effort and record your time.Both BAU and project workstreams across multiple products
  • Integrate development planning tools (e.g. Jira, Slack) & automated testing with build & deployment pipeline
  • Communicate effectively with Digital team colleagues and the wider Technology department, inputting technical advice and expertise
  • Liaise with project managers and business stakeholders to provide information and estimates for work items, refining estimates as requirements are enhanced
  • Perform code reviews, providing feedback to DevOps and Dev colleagues
  • Take part in sprint work and meetings
  • Perform deployments into various environments
  • Accountable for repository management and code branching strategy
  • Responsible for build & deploy automation
  • Assist in performance optimisation of site components & infrastructure
  • Automate system administration activities
  • You will be required to be on-call (rostered across the team) to provide 3 rd line out of office hours support.

Required Experience:

  • Pipeline creation & maintenance - Octopus Deploy/Azure Pipelines or similar
  • An understanding and some development experience in required technologies: .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, C#, HTML / XHTML, CSS, JQuery, XML, WCF & SQL
  • Building infrastructure from code (Experience of Terraform preferred but not essential)
  • Utilise APIs to deliver solutions - both internally developed and consuming 3rd party Cloud services
  • Integrate development planning tools (e.g. Jira, Slack) & automated testing with build & deployment pipeline
  • Communicate effectively with dev and test colleagues around the build & deploy process
  • Perform code reviews (PRs)
  • Take part in sprint work and meetings - experience of working with Agile practices
  • Experience with repository (GIT) management & code branching
  • Accountable for branching strategy and responsible for build & deploy automation
  • Assist in performance optimisation of site components & infrastructure
  • Confident scripting in (Powershell/Bash/similar)
  • Familiar with public key encryption & certificate management
  • Experience working with public Cloud ecosystems (Azure ideally)
  • Networking, DNS, load balancing and firewall experience desirable
  • Experience working with docker containers desirable

This fantastic role will enable to successful candidate to work from home for the majority of the time with the odd day in either Bristol or Birmingham (Which ever is more convenient).
