An Interim Building Surveyor is required to work for a West Midlands Local Authority. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Maintenance & Minor Works Manager and Section Leaders to assist the building surveying and engineering team in the overall landlord role, maintenance and minor works of a number of Council and Independent Properties of differing size, age, construction and use to an approved standard and within available funding. Assisting the team in providing the liaison between building user (tenant) and Construction Services and ensuring good working relationships with other maintenance disciplines and the involvement and participation of the building user will be a key element of the role.
You will require:
Experience in maintenance and minor works Good communication and customer liaison skills
Successful track record of project management
Successful track record of management of contractors on site
The ability to produce works specifications to obtain tenders / quotations on a competitive basis
An understanding of Risk Assessments, method statements, H&S and CDM A sound understanding of planned and reactive maintenance and minor improvement work
Ability / knowledge to prepare detailed scheme drawings to a professional standard of presentation
Physical requirements to undertake inspection of difficult access ie. Plant rooms, roofs, voids, basements etc
Experience of creating Employer's Requirements and experience of working with invoices based on the National Schedule of Rates (NSR).
A working knowledge of AutoCad
Membership of the CSCS card scheme
HNC / HND / Degree in Building Studies ( or equivalent ) and appropriate professional membership of a recognised body (ie RICS/MCIOB)
Required to start mid October until end March 2021. GBP170 per day
