My client in Ipswich is currently in need of BIM Technician.

My client is a specialist in Estates and Project Management, Building Surveying, Architectural Design, Landscape Design, Building Services Engineering and Quantity Surveying.

The role:

Assist the BIM Manager and Project Leads with the implementation of BIM processes

Link effectively and proactively with the Project teams and the rest of the Professional Services, maintaining good levels of communication

Work flexibly to support delivery across the service

Play a key part in the project and team management

Lead and promote BIM in the business

BIM Duties:

Maintain and receive information into the information model

Configure information for project outputs

Populate the information exchange format for the information model

Production of design outputs related to a discipline-specific, package-based or time-based task

Undertake clash detection process and report to design team lead

Ensure models and information produced is compliant with the project exchange requirements and the BIM Execution Plan

Business Delivery:

Recommend system improvements for hardware and software in line with changes to technology and in response to making the business more efficient and forward-looking

Research, recommend and implement new initiatives to ensure that they remains ahead of its competitors in relation to BIM

Contribute to the ArchiCAD User Group

Implement the "Information manager" role on projects

Ensure that BIM is used most efficiently in the business by arranging or delivering training, and provision of guidance notes and tutorials

Day to day support of BIM, CAD, Project technology and general IT with the objective for the projects to meet deadlines with high standard deliverables

Ensure that the business follows the necessary standards and protocols in order to meet national and international BIM Project requirements

Work to ensure projects meet standards highlighted in ISO19650, including but not limited to delivering, successful coordination with automated software, COBie deliverables, cost plans and BOWs using 4D technology and project sequencing using 5D technology

Manage, enforce and if necessary improve on the CAD/BIM Standards and BIM back office

Develop the standard BIM/CAD libraries and content management protocols. Establish best practice working methods for BIM, complementary applications and technology. With consideration to project stages, model development and deliverables

Assist in the selection, purchase and setting up of new hardware

Ensure projects are running according to schedule and budget, and are running in accordance with clients' BIM expectations and deliverables

Conduct and develop best practice documents on regular BIM audits, including clash detection, at key points in the project lifecycle to ensure the effective deployment of CAD/BIM skills, standards and interoperability between team members, consultants and software applications

Establish or maintain the collaboration tools needed for internal and external office communication and data sharing

Participate in design team meetings and run BIM coordination meetings to ensure they are clearly presented and reports are delivered to the design teams. This ensures a coordinated and federated model is delivered to support successful construction and ensure that client deliverables are met

Ensure models are validated and COBie requirements are met

It's essential you have:

RIBA, CIAT or another relevant professional qualification

Knowledge of coordination software such as Solibri or Navisworks

Knowledge in federating models from different software platforms such as ArchiCAD or Revit

Understanding of the PAS1192 series documentation and the subsequent ISO 19650 documentation

A keen interest in BIM, construction and the built environment

Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals

An understanding of the relationship between people, buildings and the wider environment

An ability to take ownership for your own personal development

An ability to provide exceptional service internally and externally
