Packing Operatives

LOCATION: Located in the Rochdale area, Junction 21 of the M62.

The company: Our Client is based in the OL16 area of Rochdale and is a very large Sportswear outlet distributing and selling their products throughout the UK. Due to an increase in new and existing business the company is now able to start offering opportunities for Packing operatives. This position is an on-going assignment with the view to a long-term opportunity.

PAY RATE for the Packing Operative role :

GBP8.72 - GBP10.86 (Overtime rates vary dependent upon shift)

Shifts : days or nights 4 on 4 off

Days: 06:00 - 18:00 and 07:00 - 19:00

Nights: 18:00 - 06:00 and 19:00 - 07:00

Your main responsibilities as a Packing Operative will be:

  • Dextrous hand packing work
  • Listening to and following instructions
  • Sorting stock
  • Asking questions when unsure about any instructions given
  • Picking products from pick sheets
  • Working well as a team
  • Identifying and interpreting shorthand codes
  • Packing both individual and larger scale orders
  • Working at speed but maintaining accuracy throughout
  • Working to deadlines accurately and efficiently
  • Manually lifting and moving products throughout your shift
  • Quality checking all products picked and packed throughout for damage / inconsistencies
  • Stock allocation
  • Order picking
  • QC Checking
  • Hanging garments
  • Labelling orders
  • General warehouse duties
  • Hand scanner experience (Used to scan bar codes)

Attributes for Packing Operative role:

  • Previous experience within BOTH packing AND picking is Preferred
  • Questioning unclear instructions / duties
  • Able to work towards tight deadlines and targets
  • Packing experience advantageous
  • Quality checking skills
  • Previous warehouse experience is Preferred
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Ability and willingness to perform manual work
  • A good level of English for this role is Essential
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Must be an enthusiastic team player
  • Reliable and flexible to the needs of the business
  • Physically fit & able
  • Working within a warehouse environment
