Job Summary
The School of Pharmacy & Life Sciences is a vibrant academic and clinical skills community that provides pharmacy and life sciences education in the North East of Scotland. The School is housed in a state of the art building designed to provide a stimulating and enjoyable learning experience.
We are looking for a highly professional, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team. You will support delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Forensic and Analytical science.
You will have relevant experience and / or a PhD in Forensic and Analytical science or related area. You will be expected to have experience in the use of analytical instrumentation used in the field of forensic science. Additional forensic practitioner experience would also be desirable.
You will be expected to contribute to the teaching and administration of the School's Forensic and Analytical Science undergraduate degree, as well as other relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You will complement existing research/teaching activities in the above area within the school.
You will be encouraged to develop your own research in conjunction with other members of the School.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis for one year from 4th Jan 2021.
Salary on appointment will be dependent upon experience.
Candidates with limited/no lecturing experience will be placed on the first point of the scale, although consideration will be given to a market supplement (reviewed bi-annually) for those with specific industry experience.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of School
RESPONSIBLE FOR: No Supervisory Responsibility
PURPOSE OF POST: This post is required primarily to support delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Forensic and Analytical science. To support research as part of this appointment. Some additional inter-professional support across the other undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the School may be required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Deliver teaching in Forensic and Analytical science and related areas in collaboration with the Academic Strategic lead and module/course leaders.
Contribute to the teaching and assessment of Forensic and Analytical science skills in an academic, laboratory and simulated learning environment.
Contribute to the development of teaching and assessment in Forensic & Analytical science as part of a team.
Support research in Forensic & Analytical science, or a related field.
Utilise technology to support and enhance learning.
Be responsible for Health and Safety requirement for staff and students within Analytical Chemistry laboratories.
Assist in planning of laboratory practical exercises and effective utilisation of resources.
Undertake appropriate professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Strategic lead or Head of School.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships
First Degree in Forensic & Analytical science or related field.
Knowledge
Knowledge of learning and teaching approaches related to Forensic & Analytical science (gained from work experience and/or as a student in a relevant course).
Experience
Experience of laboratory skills in Analytical and / or Forensic Science
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
PhD in related discipline.
Membership of appropriate professional bodies.
Knowledge
Knowledge of separation sciences e.g. HPLC, GC, etc. and / or microscopy.
Experience
Relevant post-doctoral experience.
