Depute Head Teacher, St Mary's RC PS, Polbeth, 35 hours per week, closing date 27th September 2020

St. Mary's Primary School (Polbeth) is a denominational school serving the communities of Polbeth and West Calder. There is a Nursery attached which is housed in a separate building within the school's extensive grounds. The school roll this session is 170 with 40/40 pupils in nursery.

The school is staffed by a Head Teacher, 1 Acting Depute Head Teacher, 1 ASD Principal Teacher, 11 Class Teachers, 6 Nursery Nurses, a PE Specialist, a Music Specialist, an Art Specialist, an Instructor of Brass, 6 Pupil Support Workers and a full-time Administration Assistant. The school has an autism spectrum disorder resource which currently has provision for 24 pupils. The school currently sits in decile 4 of the Scottish Index for Multiple Deprivation. St. Mary's is an integral part of the local community, enjoying strong links with a number of local organisations as well as Our Lady and St. Bridget's Parish and St. Kentigern's Academy and cluster schools.

The Depute Head Teacher will assist the Head Teacher in providing effective leadership and management, enabling the school and ELC to deliver the highest quality of education for all pupils. S/he will, as part of the Senior Leadership Team, ensure through the continuous implementation of quality assurance procedures that high standards of achievement and attainment are met

The DHT has delegated management responsibility as defined by the Head Teacher to assist in leading the school in school improvement in the context of legislation, Council policies, procedures, guidance/advice and national and council priorities. The post holder will contribute on a school and cluster collegiate basis to the development of such policies, procedures and priorities.
