Role Outline/Responsibilities:

To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Senior Consultant Hydrologist / Water Resources Specialist in our Winnersh office. The successful individual will support a variety of studies in water resources assessment and planning and in studies to investigate the sustainability of abstractions from groundwaters and rivers consistent with protecting and enhancing the aquatic environment.You will be a widely experienced expert in hydrology, you will provide a technical leadership role cross these technical areas and be integral to the overall delivery of technical excellence across our project portfolio.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Post-graduate Degree in Engineering, Hydrology or Hydraulics.
  • Highly experienced hydrologist with expertise across a wide range of UK catchment types.
  • Review and analysis experience of surface water resources for the provision of new surface water abstractions water supply and cooling systems, including provision of support to clients in dialogue with regulators.
  • Analysis of surface water resources in relation to effluent discharge, relocation of outfall locations, impact on dilution and water quality and permitting.
  • Technical Leadership of Water Industry programmes such as National Environment Programme (WINEP) Restoring Sustainable Abstractions studies, including a demonstrable detailed knowledge of surface water - groundwater interactions.
  • Experienced in technical coordination of multi-disciplinary teams undertaking studies for water companies, including hydrometry and monitoring.
  • Highly experienced in writing and reviewing technical reports.
  • Highly effective mentoring and training skills to develop and support junior staff.
  • Excellent presentation skills with experience of presenting to existing and potential clients, to regulators and stakeholders on behalf of clients, at meetings, within working teams and at conferences.
  • Experienced in writing proposals and supporting business acquisition activities.

Desirable:

  • Expert Witness experience
  • Flood risk management and reservoir engineering experience
