Progress Coach within the 'Stay on Track' Scheme

At the Windsor Forest Colleges Group our mission is to inspire ambition and make a positive difference to lives through learning.

The 16-19 Tuition Fund is a one off allocation of support funding for the academic 2020-21 only. The funds are to provide disadvantaged students with additional support to get them back on track after disrupted learning due to lockdown.

Disrupted learning will mean that students are out of the habit of learning. As part of our re-imagined support, we have created the role of Progress Coach to supplement the support we already offer our students and to deliver our 'Stay on Track' Scheme for those learners who need additional help over the forthcoming academic year.

The 'Stay on Track' Scheme

Through the Stay on Track Scheme, the role of the Progress Coach is to work with small groups of students who require support to engage successfully with their programme. These students will be given an initial assessment to enable the progress coach to restore effective learning habits and routines through targeted input. Small group tuition will be used to support the development of these educational attributes and to improve the students' ability to learn and reach their potential.

A Progress Coach will work flexibly with identified groups of students from across the Colleges to:

  • Facilitate small group intervention and individualised coaching sessions in order to support students to successfully engage and participate in their programme of learning.
  • Work with personal tutors to support learners to set realistic goals, working with them to set targets and develop an individual action plan.
  • Complete all appropriate records of individual sessions, track intended and actual interventions and ensure that this data is recorded and reported.
  • Work in partnership with the personal tutors and the Inclusion Coordinator and where appropriate attend meetings with internal support colleagues, parents/guardians.

About you and what you need to be successful?

We are looking for highly motivated and resilient individuals with coaching experience to facilitate focused personal development sessions. Core to this role will be the provision of 1-1 and group coaching to provide individualised positive learning habits and attitudes support and targeted interventions to a caseload of students.
