Supporter Relationship Officer / Volunteer Coordinator
Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Fixed term - 12 months
Part time - 21 hours per week
GBP14,088 per annum (FTE - GBP23,480)
Our client is a thriving charity based in Shrewsbury with over 500 regular
volunteers and around 60 staff. Their vision is for Shropshire to be alive with wildlife, loved by people and its wild places restored. They are the only charitable organisation in the county focused solely on nature conservation in Shropshire.
About the role
Our client is looking for someone with a passion for volunteering as well as developing, empowering and supporting local groups to make an impact. Not only will you ensure a steady supply of new volunteers for specific opportunities, you will work to retain them by providing new opportunities and social events.
You will support existing branches and groups to fulfil their potential but also work to
identify and develop new groups. The focus of current activity is to assist succession
planning but also explore ways groups can have more of a voice in local issues.
About you
Our client is seeking an organised and forward thinking individual who has experience of managing people and understands the health and safety needs of working with volunteers. You'll be a strong communicator (both written and verbal) and you'll be confident when using MS Office. You'll also ideally have some experience of using databases. You need some knowledge of nature conservation and a full UK driving licence due to the locations you'll be required to visit but most important is the desire to make a difference.
This is a fixed term 12 month contract and is part time for 21 hours per week (normally
worked over 3 days per week).
