My client is a major manufacturer of specialist capital equipment manufacturer for the process and chemical industries. They have over 40 years servicing the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, Process, Chemical and Automotive industries nationally.

Overview

As Operations Manager you will direct a team of one material planner and three assembly operatives to ensure that the production of pumps meets the business and financial objectives of the company.

You will operate proactively to identify and mitigate any risks to manufacturing, and will delegate and resolve issues to drive the team towards a culture of continuous improvement. You will take the lead with instigating improvement initiatives and liaise with internal stake holders to develop corrective action plans where required.

Responsibilities

  • To incorporate Customer orders and manufacturing capacity and capability with supplier lead-times into the MRP system to ensure efficient production whilst meeting customer lead times.
  • Dealing with urgent orders and incorporating them within the production plan whilst minimising any late deliveries.
  • Provide lead times to sales enquiries.
  • Maintaining test certification for all pumps manufactured.
  • Management of any sub contract operations.
  • Manage the planning team effectively cascading work and assisting in prioritising tasks and workload.
  • With Support from the Group Managing Director you will resolve basic HR queries, people development and performance management objectives.
  • Monitor the integrity of forecasting and planning tools. Develop and implement forecasting models and tools to incorporate customer demands and changes.
  • To deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet production requirements. Benchmark against best practice and review ways to make continuous improvements to the operation.
  • Maintain strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure lines of communication are efficient and effective maximising performance of the team.
  • To develop SOPs in relation to material planning, production, assembly, testing and despatch.
  • To report operational progress and challenges via regular management Operations

Skills and Attributes required -

  • Strong IT and data analysis skills
  • Experience of Sage 200 and Seiki would be advantageous
  • Competent Excel user
  • Experience of 8D analysis and 5S
  • Ability to produce operating procedures and ensure adherence
  • Delivering improvements to factory performance
  • Ability to accurately present data for regular review in local operations meetings
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in production planning role.
  • Professional, assertive and self-motivated.
