GBR Recruitment are working in partnership with a well established progressive food manufacturing business, recruiting for an experienced Shift Engineer to join the onsite Engineering / Maintenance team in Leicestershire.

Shift Engineer

3 shift rotating pattern Monday to Friday, no weekends (earlies 6am - 2pm, backs 2pm -10pm & nights 10pm - 6am)

Following significant capital investment this is an exciting time to join this manufacturing business as they introduce new state of the art technology into the processing facility.

This new state of the art food production plant is currently under modernisation / further construction.

As a member of the Engineering Team reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will work as an integral member of the Engineering Team and have dotted line responsibility to the Production Manager.

All the activities you complete will be aligned to the Internal Work System (IWS) which is our clients organisational capability building programme, aimed at achieving and sustaining breakthrough business results, through 100% employee involvement, using a zero loss / zero waste methodology.

As a Shift Engineer you will provide full technical engineering support to the plant and be multi-skilled with an electrical bias.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Electrical (wiring, testing, fault finding, programming, installation, modifications, etc).
  • Mechanical (bearings, gearboxes, motors, shafts, drives, seals, etc).
  • Completing all paperwork as appropriate.
  • Aligned to the companies IWS principles, embedding the company ways of working you will be asked to:
  • Drive continuous improvements on equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards and take personal responsibility for health and safety to achieve zero losses and safety incidents.
  • Work with the Line Structure Team to establish and improve CL (Centre Lines) & CIL (Clean, Inspect and Lubricate).
  • Effectively manage start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers.
  • Drive waste and losses to zero.
  • Manage utilities (water) and energy (gas / electric) to achieve optimum efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping following our clean as you go policy.
  • Find and fix issues and defects using your engineering skills.
  • Using the IT system to analyse data to identify and make improvements in the plant.
  • Ensure key information is effectively communicated to the next Engineering shift and also via the Shift Daily Direction Setting process.

You will possess the following attributes:

  • Be time served ideally in electrically biased engineering, ideally within food and we ask that you have HNC level qualification (or equivalent) as a minimum.
  • Have experience of generic engineering equipment hydraulics & Pneumatics
  • Strong Siemen's, Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi PLC experience
