ABOUT THIS ROLE:
We are recruiting for a Plant Manager to take responsibility for the daily management of our Heavy Plant operations and ensure the highest level of plant optimisation. The role will encompass a wide range of duties including, but not limited to:
- Site visits to ensure all Plant is being operated safely and compliantly.
- Ensuring daily and scheduled maintenance is being carried out by the Operators.
- Play a key role in the training of all new Operators and the continued development of existing employees, ensuring all work is undertaken to the highest specification, in accordance with the Company expectations.
- Identify training needs and liaise with the H&S department with regards to training requirements.
- Attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills to ensure and champion best practice throughout the Company.
- To support Site Managers and Contracts Managers with operator requirements and the coordination of labour.
- Work closely with the HR department in the recruitment of new operators, including the conducting of telephone interviews and on-site assessments.
- Support with the on-boarding of new operators including training on defect software.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and resolve where necessary.
- Work closely with members of the Senior Management team to identify areas for improvement and implement where necessary.
- Cover staffing shortfalls by operating various items of Heavy Plant.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience within the heavy plant industry is essential, ideally within a management role.
- Must hold a CPCS Blue card for the following machines:
- 360 Excavator (Above 10 tonne)
- Dozer
- Loading Shovel
- ADT
- Forward Tipping Dumper
- Previous experience in training on various items of heavy plant, with the ability to educate operators with varying skills sets and levels of competence.
- The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify training requirements to ensure operational requirements are continually met.
- Excellent working knowledge of heavy plant, with the ability to advise on general maintenance of the above machines.
