Our client based in the Wirral area is currently recruting for a Health, Safety & Facilities manager for there newly built site.
An experienced Heath, Safety and Facilities Manager responsible for co-ordinating, supporting and advising the business on all health, safety and facilities matters for there new, purpose built, 180,000sq ft distribution centre site. This is a new role, reporting directly into the Finance Director, managing the overall health, safety and facilities on site to an incredibly high standard, whilst also working towards continuous improvement of functionality and efficiency.
The Distribution Centre is at the heart of the business, your role will be to establish, manage, and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure the changing needs of the business, its employees, and visitors are met and the business has the most suitable working environment for its employees and their activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered too and regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
Deliver all elements of the facilities maintenance and services to meet regulatory requirements and business objectives
Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting
Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations
Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented
Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, and employees are aware of their responsibilities
Construct and communicate annual plan for key facilities maintenance objectives
Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained
Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company
In conjunction with the Operations Manager, agree and oversee contracts and providers for the delivery of site services including security, cleaning, building maintenance and utilities, waste disposal and recycling
Maintains site security services; personnel and security systems, ensures the facility is secure 24/7
Responds to emergencies or urgent issues relating to site services, utilities and buildings infrastructure on site as they arise and deals with the consequences
Monitors and manages environmental issues e.g. energy saving, recycling etc
Liaise with all relevant health, safety and environmental enforcing authorities including HSE and Environment Agency etc
Schedules and delivers planned training and evacuations to comply with H&S regulations
Fosters and promotes a positive health and safety culture throughout the business, maintaining employee engagement
Provide regular reports to the Senior Management Team on relevant health, safety and facilities activities
Requirements
Skills required:
NEBOSH Diploma as a minimum
Member of IOSH
Minimum of 5 years-experience successfully managing health, safety, and facilities at a site no smaller than 50,000sq ft OR a site which employees over 100+ employees (preferably warehousing)
IT Literate
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong stakeholder management skills
Influencing skills to engage employees in Health & Safety practices/processes
Ability to analyse information and present it simply and accurately
Personal Qualities:
You should be extremely organised and efficient
You should be hard working with a strong attention to detail
You should be highly personable and approachable
Working Hours
Regular working hours are 9.00am - 5.30pm Monday- Friday, however you may be expected to work additional hours during busy periods and be 'on call' for any site emergencies.
As our operation runs 24/7, you will be expected to be available to hold meetings outside of your regular hours and be as flexible as possible
