We are currently looking to recruit a Band 5 Speech & Language Therapist to work in a specialist environment in Oxfordshire working with young adults with Autism. You will be responsible for a specialist caseload of students supported by a senior Speech and Language Therapist.
Key Responsibilities
* You will work autonomously and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support and develop the speech, language, communication and interaction needs of the students.
* Formulate therapy plans to meet the needs of the individual students and their environment alongside supporting key staff.
* Support and deliver an independence curriculum following a therapeutic framework.
* Organise and plan your designated caseload ensuring timely and effective management.
* Identify and implement appropriate formal / informal assessments of complex students' speech, language, communication and interaction needs within the context of the classroom, wider school situations, residential environment and community providing comprehensive analysis of the results.
* Use the views and aspirations of students, including analysing results of their QoL surveys, and consider these when setting up and reviewing therapy plans, targets and programmes.
* Plan and deliver individual therapy, small group work and / or class-based interventions using evidence-based approaches.
* Maintain up to date and accurate clinical notes in line with RCSLT professional standards, GDPR and the department's therapy policy.
* Assist with the implementation and the development of the universal provision within the education and residential setting.
* Plan and deliver independence lessons using the school's therapeutic framework.
* Liaise with staff so that therapy techniques and strategies can be disseminated and feedback obtained.
* Attend regular staff meetings to promote a multidisciplinary team approach and to provide specialist advice relating to the appropriate.
* Maintain a high standard of report writing for end of term reports, assessment reports and annual review reports.
* Attend annual review meetings and contributes to the EHCP process in line with current legislation and school policy.
* Maintaining a CPD diary and engaging in the appraisal process.
* Attending Multidisciplinary Meetings and Annual Review Meetings as required.
The salary for this exciting new role is GBP24,907 - GBP30,615 depending on experience.
Successful candidates must have:
* Registered member of RCSLT and HCPC
* Hold a professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
* Work within the RCSLT clinical guidelines and HCPC standards.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to others and develop good working relationships.
