Within 18 months of launching, My London has become one of the 10 biggest regional websites in the country. We like to think our website has a unique style and, as we look to appeal to younger readers than some of our rivals, we encourage our reporters to have fun with their writing where it is appropriate. By joining our team, you'll have the best patch in the country and be covering a brilliantly diverse range of stories day in, day out.
We are looking for a Community Reporter to join the team and help build our audiences in communities across London. You'll do this through engaging stories, agenda setting content and coming up with new ideas to connect with different communities. You will receive industry-leading digital journalism training which you will then share into the newsroom, as well as the gold-standard NCTJ journalism training to become a fully-trained journalist.
You'll produce the kind of quick, accurate copy that people will keep coming back for, deliver the stories that really matter to our audience and create content that surfaces on social media and in search. At the heart of your role will be telling stories that matter to people in your community.
What will the role involve?
- Delivering high-quality, thoroughly-researched, accurate and well-written multimedia contentWriting content in a way which engages and drives digital audienceProviding live coverage of news events for live blogsSourcing third-party and social contentBuilding strong contacts for story-gathering within local communities
What are we looking for?
- You will have at least 5 GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and EnglishA driving licence is preferableWe also welcome people who are doing a completely different job - and want to make a career change to become a journalist
