General Manager

The Hereford is one of the UK's oldest native beef breeds and as a result of over 200 years of selective breeding and the breed's attributes, these famous red-coated, white-faced cattle are now the worlds most recognised and iconic beef breeds. The Hereford Cattle Society was founded under the patronage of Queen Victoria in 1878 and has worked tirelessly since then to preserve the reputation and integrity of the brand within the agriculture and food sectors.

We are delighted to be working with the organisation and the council members to help find a new General Manager to lead the society through a period of positive change and development.

The Role:

The General Manager will be wholly responsible for the day to day running of the society and the management of the team in Hereford. They will help design the society's strategy and will ultimately be responsible for delivering it and the society's plans and goals as well as ensuring that the breed integrity is upheld at all times. This person will be the face of The Hereford Cattle Society and a true ambassador for the brand whilst helping to maintain and develop the society's relationships within the agricultural sector and the food industry.

The Candidate:

We are looking for an outstanding leader and man manager with the capability to not only manage the day-to-day but with the ability to help write and then deliver the strategy.

The right candidate will have an in-depth understanding of food and farming (preferably with knowledge of the meat sector) as well as having a proven ability to develop relationships and grow business.

Experience in dealing with retailers and the consumer market is important. We are looking for someone with a successful track record in senior leadership, general management or commercial management role.

In addition to being practical and down-to-earth, the right individual will have excellent administrative skills and an eye for detail as well as outstanding business acumen and good financial understanding.

Lastly, they will be well connected with excellent contacts in the agri-food sector, have excellent credibility and a reputation for delivering first-class service to all stakeholders.
