THE COMPANY: My client is a charity based in Wakefield and I am supporting them to recruit and Experience Safeguarding and Protection Manager.
THE JOB: This role will lead on the development and implementation of the safeguarding framework, policy and practices with the overall aim of contributing to the achievement of the organisations mission by ensuring the highest safeguarding and protection standards are applied throughout all aspects of service delivery and business operations.
You will ensure the organisations protection policies and procedures are kept up to date, incorporate safeguarding best practices, and comply with government and legislative requirements. As well as map the legal, social welfare child and adult at risk protection arrangements nationally and internationally where required.
In this role you will work with other Managers to identify designated Safeguarding Leads and provide ongoing mentoring and support, and work closely with HR to decide which roles need DBS Checking.
You will ensure that all staff are trained in line with Safeguarding and that all legislation is kept up to date and review all safeguarding policies to ensure that they remain relevant and up to date.
THE PERSON: This is a key position within the organisation and you will need significant proven specialist practitioner experience of working in a senior safeguarding capacity and be able to demonstrate experience of leading on Safeguarding and Child Protection issues in both a national and international capacity
You will have experience and expertise in safeguarding including development of policy and procedures, reporting and fostering of good practice and have worked with partner agencies as a representative of a similar organisation, including discussion of sensitive safeguarding or child protection issues
Ideally you will have worked within or closely with social care and other agencies and be experienced in responding to safeguarding concerns in Children's / Adult's services, including allegations against employees and volunteers and demonstrable ability to make decisions based on sound judgement Experience of risk management processes.
