Trainee Fibre Surveyor
Smart City Recruiters Ltd have exciting opportunities to work in the telecommunications industry with our client, this is to become Fibre Network Surveyors, you will start as a Trainee Fibre Surveyor, with a view to after your classroom and on-going on-site training and experience you will progress to become a Fibre Network Surveyor - if you have a willingness to learn and are looking for a new career, then please look no further.

We are looking to recruit men and women who can work around the UK as required and undertake training in classroom and on the job to progress to become Fibre Network Surveyors.
Main Objective
Working alongside experienced surveyors to learn the requirements to survey the Openreach network.
Learning how to undertake the Surveying of planned routes, accuracy of address lists and any proposed changes.
Learning new technologies for site analysis to provide key input.
Training on surveying both overhead and underground telecommunications apparatus.
Provide key data to company and verify planned designs
Main Duties
The main duties of a Fibre Network Surveyor which you will learn this during your training/work experience will include the responsibility for the following:
* Attending sites to determine the best installation route for fibre optic network lines.
* Understanding and surveying existing fibre optic network infrastructure including ducts and potentials for upgrades.
* Interpreting telecom design blueprints and construction maps.
* Completing survey documentation job packs: ISP pathways, drawings, address listings, bill of materials, confirmation pictures, construction plans and project timescales.
* Carrying out area surveys to ascertain whether any obstructions will prevent a successful installation.
* Meeting with clients to resolve any issues preventing the project receiving approval to move forward.
* Identifying customer networks and reviewing proposed methods of construction to ensure that all requirements are compliant.
* Completing all necessary steps to ensure that wayleaves, permits, re-routes, timescales and agreements are obtained
* Identifying civils works for FTTP where required.
* Competently utilising various design software packages such as Internal Box to Box Surveying Management System, Openreach Orion System, GIS, Visio, CAD, Power Point to create professional job packs.
* Manage a program of works to deliver client targets and expectations.
* Conduct Onsite Safety Audits/Risk Assessments.
* Conduct Quality Checks.
* Each completed estimate must be quality checked before returning as complete.
* Ensure compliance with all company-controlled documents, including all method statements and procedures.
* Be pro-active in developing new systems to meet the changing needs of the department.
* Liaison with third parties working in conjunction with the group to meet client's needs.
* Delivering a consistently high level of customer service when out in the field.
* Working and ensuring that you are working with in the Health and Safety requirements as per company policy.
Skills and experience required:
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
MAP reading (essential
Full driving licence (due to age restrictions on insurance - MUST be over 21, held licence for at least 2 years)
IT knowledge (online systems) - would be preferred
Qualifications and training provided will be:
* SA001 Safety Overhead
* SA002 Safety Underground
* S5 PIA Pole Surveying
* S6 PIA Duct Surveying
* S11 FTTP for Surveyors
* Unit 2 Street Works
* FTTP/FTTH/CAT A planning processes.
* Understanding of routing of telecom wiring from point to point
* Understanding of logistics involved in all civils work inherent in network installation
* Understanding of legislative and regulation requirements, including, wayleaves, permits and associated agreements
* Understanding of Traffic management

Working in all weather conditions to survey the network
Willingness to work long hours as required.
Working away from home from time to time
Good attention to detail
During your training and work experience you will be paid an hourly rate GBP13p/h. This will be increased throughout the duration of your training/work experience, see below progression
Trainee Surveyor - GBP13p/h (around 8 weeks training) - GBP520 + per week
Junior Surveyor - GBP14.50p/h (around 12 weeks training) - GBP580 + per week
Surveyor - GBP16.50ph (ongoing until ready to progress) - GBP660 + per week
Senior Surveyor - GBP18.50p/h (ongoing until ready to progress) - GBP740 + per week
Lead Surveyor - GBP20.50p/h (ongoing until ready to progress) - GBP820 + per week
