Smile Education's Leadership division are currently seeking an effective Deputy DSL for a Wolverhampton based SEN school (WV10 0QP). This job role is being offered on a full-time, interim basis, Monday to Friday, to start from as soon as possible. If you have experience as an Assistant Headteacher in the SEN education sector and are available to travel to the Wolverhampton area, we would like to hear from you.

We are representing a large, MLD/SEMH specialist setting to assist them with their current vacancies. This all through school caters to a range of behavioural, special education needs for pupils. The setting currently has places for over 100 students with class sizes of approximately 8 students. Groups are heavily supported by Learning & Support Mentors and Teachers all of whom have vast experience working with children with challenging needs. Both the primary and secondary curriculum are followed and subject specialist assistant headteachers are encouraged to apply.

In this job, you will be working closely with the Head of school. The typical duties you will carry out includes: being a lead point of contact to raise, investigate and act on safeguarding concerns, using the respective system to log and audit safeguarding concerns, iimplementing, promoting and reviewing SG policies and procedures, keeping update on any changes in relevant legislation and cascading updates to teams , as well as liaising with parents/ families and multi agency team. Other aspects of the role will be leading on attendance.

The setting has a range of facilities available to the students including in-house catering, a multi-purpose sports hall, a design technology suite, a food technology room and spacious classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards and the latest computer technology. To be successful in your application, you should have experience in one or more of the following:

Hold a relevant UK based qualification teaching / management qualification
Have carried out DSL/ Pastoral responsbilities for more than 3 months
Ideally have knowledge of Wolverhampton LA procedures
Exceptionally dedicated to supporting pupils with SEN
Secondary or SEN school experience in a similar role
