Job Title: Transport Supervisor (Nights)

Reports to: Planning Manager

Start date: TBC

Salary: GBP25K per annum

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 18:00 - 06:00

Job Summary:

This is a 'hands on' role in a busy transport traffic office.

To supervise the entire transport night shift operation, support a team of 50+ drivers. To ensure service levels and key performance indicators are routinely maintained.

To communicate & liaise with both customers and internal colleagues in relation to delays or issues which may arise.

Accountability/Daily Tasks

- To supervise the night operations through effective communication with Transport, Groupage, Planning Managers, and when required the Operations Director.

- To complete operational shift handover including awareness of status report/current deployment of drivers

- Review and prepare driver plan and timed deliveries for next day and allocate vehicles to meet delivery requirements for the network activity and update information to all relevant parties

- Review movement requirements and make necessary arrangements for additional resource to meet any predicted shortfall.

- Closely liaise with warehouse as well as transport to assure a fluent loading of vehicles and ensuring all vehicle movements are on time.

- Make necessary arrangements for repair action to trailer or tractor units and ensuring fleet availability meets with operations requirements and escalating any risks/non-availability to the relevant Manager.

- Preparing and communicating a formal handover each night, providing a written report including status, service failure and resource availability

- To react quickly and use own initiative to any issues that occur throughout the shift, with immediate escalation to on call Manager when required.

- General administration - updating report, scanning/filing paperwork.

- Driver out-brief/debriefs and ensuring all issues from them are reported and actioned.

Qualifications & Experiences

- Supervisory experience

- PC literate

- Good communicator/excellent customer service

- Organised/methodical

- Ability to work within a deadline orientated Transport operation

- Self-motivated

- Ability to use initiative/Problem solving skills

- Must work well as a team

- Ability to operate Stirling Planning Software or similar transport information systems
