We currently have a Water Treatment Technician position available for a motivated individual to join our team based at Tottiford Treatment Works, near Bovey Tracey. Joining us on a full time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of GBP19,742 per annum plus benefits.

As our Water Treatment Technician, you will operate water treatment sites and associated plant and equipment ensuring that potable water quality and quantity is kept within company standards. You will provide out of hours standby cover as part of the works' operational rota to ensure sites are maintained out of hours.

Responsibilities as our Water Treatment Technician will include:

Ensure that potable water quality and quantity is maintained within company standards having due regard to abstraction licences and the requirements of the distribution system

Liaising with the Hub Site Technicians in ensuring water quality and quantity is maintained out of hours and resolve site alarm issues

Ensuring that all chemicals are stored, handled, and used safely, effectively, and economically, in line with company procedures

Carrying out operational maintenance on equipment and instrumentation in accordance with work's schedules and instructions

Take water quality samples and carry out on-site analysis as required in accordance with works' instructions

Completing water quality and operational procedures, records/log sheets

What we are looking for in our ideal Water Treatment Technician:

5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade A to C including Maths and English

NVQ 2 in Operating Process Plant - or working towards it (desirable)

HNC in Water Operations (desirable)

Experience in Water Treatment or another relevant process

Mechanical, electrical, ICA, or scientific background (desirable)

Skilled communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels of the business

Proven influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to find creative solutions to problems

Knowledge of water treatment processes, systems, legislation, policies, and procedures (desirable)

Excellent organisation skills with the ability to adapt and organise workload to changing priorities

Ability to remain self motivated and committed

Ability to reach sound judgements and decisions when dealing with often complex issues and operating in highly pressurised situations

Full UK Drivers Licence

Driving of company vehicles; site specific requirements for 4WD, forklift, and tractor/trailer
