Higgidy are purveyors of some of the finest pies, quiches and sausage rolls around (even if we do say so ourselves!). From our humble roots as a small family business founded by husband, wife and their best friend (who are all still in the business today) we've grown steadily over the last twelve years and now boast a team of 300 permanent staff at our offices here in West Sussex.
To support this continued growth, we are now looking for a Hygiene Manager to join us on a fixed term contract for 12 months. Within Higgidy we are committed to providing a clean, safe, responsible and collaborative workplace - and you will be a big part of supporting this! This role will be working within our busy Technical Team, and is key to ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene.
What you'll be doing:
* Implement and develop the team to deliver satisfactory completion and sign-off of all cleaning processes
* Develop, monitor and review KPI data, reporting the results to the client and addressing any shortfalls to ensure that satisfaction is achieved
* Prepare, review and update service documentation including risk assessments, method statements and training evidence
* Take an active role in customer visits and audits including the presentation and explanation of necessary due diligence information
* Monitor and challenge efficiency, service levels and labour utilisation in order to maximise operational effectiveness
* Supervision of all members of the hygiene crew ensuring that all personnel issues (suitable labour coverage, holiday planning, sickness monitoring, etc.) are dealt with in an effective and timely manner.
* Maintenance of all paperwork associated with the above responsibilities ensuring compliance with legal and auditing standards at all times.
* Responsibilities for conducting regular site hygiene and fabric audits at pre-defined frequencies, triggering appropriate corrective action where necessary including interfacing with engineering personnel as part of the site's Preventive Maintenance Plan.
* Responsibility for all training for the hygiene crews including matters relating to health and safety, operation procedures and general disciplines.
* Liaison with chemical suppliers and laundry suppliers as appropriate including maintenance of the site's hygiene schedules.
* Suitable interaction with appropriate management and personnel from all appropriate departments to ensure communication is optimised at all times.
* Aid in assessing new pieces of equipment and plant with respect to hygiene wash down procedures.
What we're looking for:
* Hygiene experience gained from working in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
* Team building and management
* Level 3 Food Safety qualification
* An excellent standard of both verbal and written English
* Proficient with using Microsoft office packages
* Microbiology for Non-Microbiologists understanding or training
We'd also love it if you have (but it's not a deal breaker if you don't):
* Level 2 HACCP qualification
* Train the Trainer experience
