Category Analyst
Devonport
Contract until July 2021
In support of Sub-Category Leads, the Category Analyst is responsible to gather and analyse data in support of definition and implementation of the optimal strategies for clearly defined spend categories.
Objectives for this role will include:
Collating Project and Business Unit requirements, including those driven by the future bid pipeline
Analysing category expenditure and supply markets to provide unique insight to the Category Manager and team
Providing data that enables the rigorous management of contract and supplier performance
Responsibilities
Category Management
Builds an in-depth knowledge of the supply markets for the particular category, including input costs & cost drivers, total cost of ownership (TCO), supply-side & demand-side market trends, regulation, barriers to entry and overall market competitiveness
Uses this data analysis to input into the category strategy in order to take maximum advantage from supply chain decisions and mitigate any future supply chain risks
Sourcing o Gathers detailed BU usage and specification data required to produce effective ITT and RFx documentation that can be released to the market, and in support of fact-based negotiations
Produces the cost and evaluation models that enable the Category Manager/Specialist to assess the relative merits of the suppliers' offers
Supply Management o Builds a deep understanding of the supply base, including their future strategy, growth plans, financial performance and competitive threats
Owns and maintains supplier segmentation data and collating the contract performance data and other inputs required to ensure successful strategic supplier engagements
Maintains the suite of KPIs and reports required to effectively manage the performance of the pan-divisional contracts
Key Success Criteria
Provision of accurate and right first time information
Providing information proactively to support and provoke the Category Management teams
Converting data into unique insight through robust analytical tools Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
The Category Analyst will be qualified to degree level or equivalent Experience & Background
2+ years post-graduation experience
Proven experience of working with large data sets, building complex analytical models and extracting insightful data
The Category Analyst will have basic knowledge of core procurement processes
The Category Analyst will have experience of analysing public financial, supply market and supplier data
Interested in pursuing a career in strategic procurement
Business Skills & Knowledge
Strong analytical skills
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
High levels of business acumen and a keen awareness of current business trends and issues
Ability to simplify complex concepts and information for presentation to stakeholders at all levels
Highly self-motivated and delivery focussed
