Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Programmes Coordinator to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester (although the role will initially be home-based during Covid-19 restrictions). You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of GBP30-35k per annum.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As Senior Programmes Coordinator, the successful candidate will play an integral role in implementing and coordinating Human Appeal's portfolio of international programmes across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Programmes Coordinator:

- Lead on the implementation and coordination of a portfolio of long-term and large scale international programmes across allocated countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East

- Work closely with Country Directors to provide management and oversight of Human Appeal's Field Offices and to provide guidance and direction for staff and operations in order to build capacity

- Bring understanding and knowledge of current development trends, humanitarian context, and learning from other programmes in order to provide technical support in programme development, and develop own expertise through continuous personal development

- Provide grant management support to Field Offices including proposal writing and budget and narrative reporting for donor accountability

- Conduct regular and close monitoring of Field Office projects, through field visits where necessary, to ensure the effectiveness of the delivery and implementation and ensuring alignment with the programme strategy and organisation's strategic plan

- Act as liaison between the Institutional Funding team and the Field Offices for efficient project management

- React to humanitarian crises, by providing support and expertise to inform Human Appeal's humanitarian response

What we're looking for in our Senior Programmes Coordinator:

- Degree-educated, ideally to Masters level, in a related field, e.g. International Development

- Minimum 4 years of experience working in Programme Coordination at an INGO with ideally at least 1 years' experience at Senior Coordinator or Manager level

- Experience working with, and delivering on bids from high-profile institutional funding bodies including UN, DfiD, GIZ, USAid

- Demonstrable experience of managing at least 5 large-scale projects at any one time and delivering long-term projects

- Demonstrable experience developing Field Office strategy

- Demonstrable experience managing Field Office response during a disaster

- Fluent English with at least 1 additional fluent language pertaining to HA Field Office countries (i.e. Arabic, Urdu, Swahili)

- Passionate and knowledge about the international development sector
