My client is looking for a shift leader to supervise a shift team's progress against work plans as defined by Production Management to ensure the proper use of machinery, equipment and assembly cells within a production area. The right candidate will cooperate with the Production Manager to create an effective work environment and reinforce production schedules and quality
• Ensure that the shift operation is run in compliance with Health & Safety policies and guidelines
• Take responsibility for the management of staff on shift and implement staff movements
• Manage, develop and motivate direct reporting staff
• Reinforce focus on volume, efficiency and on-time delivery
• Allocate, coordinate and oversee delivery of shift orders and work plan execution across multiple machines to deliver production and quality targets
• Responsible for the quality of product that is produced on shift in line with the quality systems, pr cesses and procedures
• Work with the maintenance department to ensure delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules on shift
• Provide regular feedback and recommendations regarding issues within production areas, including production organization, shifting priorities and critical situations
• Oversee cooperation and resolution of technical/quality problems, logistics and personnel issues
• Ensure that training requirements are met for current and future demands of the shift
• Play an active role in continuous improvement activities (lean 6 sigma) to achieve plans for future growth
• Support and train all team members so they can identify quality and health & safety issues and take fast, effective action to resolve
• Make sure company resources are used in an effective manner on shift to ensure best operating costs
• Monitor inventory and maintain parts and material stock within agreed parameters
• Cover other shift leaders when they are on holiday, training or absent so as to maintain day to day targets and quality
• Other duties may have to be undertaken which will be determined by the Company, taking in to account the current level of responsibilities, experience and capabilities
Essential
• Experience of Continual Improvement projects
• Experience of working to a recognized quality management system
• Experience of Lean 6 Sigma
• Knowledge of company policies, working rules and regulations applying to the area of responsibility
Desirable
• IOSHH or willing to work towards accreditation
