Magdalene operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. Covering the full network lifecycle, we deliver Managed Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets.
We are looking for a Field Engineer to be part of our First Line Maintenance team, working in London and the South East/West of England.
Our team work on a shift pattern, including 24x7 on call and occasionally there may be times where you are required to stay away from home.
What will you be doing?
Your role will be to install, maintain, diagnose and restore telecommunications equipment, cabling and infrastructure to support our customers' critical national networks.
This role has flexibility to allow you to have ownership of your day with support from our Network Operations Centre (NOC) and your line manager.
The role fits within Magdalene's Field Services Team and will work collaboratively with our NOC, network management teams and our Customers.
What will your key responsibilities be?
- First line installation, diagnostics and maintenance of fixed/mobile equipment and infrastructure.
- Receive, progress, report and close trouble tickets to customer SLA's using the correct processes and systems.
- Revise and update technical documentation and asset registers accordingly.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all sites and report any defects/problems.
- Perform risk assessments on site and be able to follow method statements.
- Produce reports for site visits as required.
- Respond quickly and effectively to requests from the NOC.
- Coach and buddy of the existing team and new team members to ensure knowledge sharing.
- Escalation with customers and suppliers as appropriate.
What competencies are we looking for?
- Previous experience of working with ticket/work management systems.
- Proven experience of working on transmission, mobile networks, access networks, fibre/copper cabling and all associated equipment.
- Power competence and awareness.
- The ability to be flexible as your duties require, and able to work on the required shift pattern.
- A Right First Time (RFT) attitude, ensuring all work carried out is to an exceptional standard.
- The ability to problem solve and overcome any obstacles in your way, including solving any issues quickly and effectively to make sure SLA's are still met.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A helpful person who strives to deliver outstanding customer service, building relationships with internal and external customers.
