We are looking for a honest, reliable and dependable person to work as MOT tester at our garage which will soon be able to do MOT tests. We are looking for someone with 3-5 years' experience as a MOT tester. You will be working Monday to Friday 8am-5pm and half day on Saturday. Salary Negotiable

Technician / Mechanic / MOT Tester job role:

  • Based in a busy workshop environment you will be required to greet customers on arrival if required, speak to customer and book in any necessary work.
  • Provide customers with detailed estimates for repairs and replacements
  • Undertake all MOT's for the site as well as completing standard servicing and fault analysis.
  • Diagnose vehicles based on observational and mechanical testing as well as information provided by the customer.
  • You must be capable of following the repair process from fault analysis to completion
  • Complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Ideally you will be experienced in using the latest diagnostic systems.


Requirements for Technician / Mechanic / MOT Tester:

  • Previous experience as a Technician / Mechanic / MOT Tester is essential
  • You must understand and be able to complete diagnostics and various repairs, as well as have a good customer service manner and team work ethic.
  • Ideally have a formal qualification to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Must hold an up to date MOT Smart Card
  • UK driving licence
  • Good command of the English Language
  • You will be required to conduct MOT's in line with DVSA guidelines and to adhere to company policies.
  • You will be required to ensure all MOT's are carried out in line with DVSA guidelines to ensure full compliance
  • You will be required to ensure all work is carried out observing safe working practices of self and others

As an MOT Tech - Your role is to focus on MOT's but when you are quiet with no MOTs to carry out you will be required to do minor duties linked to MOT failures such as brake pads & discs, lights, steering alignment, Servicing, fluid replacement etc. You will be expected to routinely be carrying out bigger jobs such as Clutches, Belts or Engine diagnostics and other general mechanic work.
