We have an exciting opportunity to join the AMRC group as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) with strategic and analytic responsibility for our 'automation, digital, controls and instrumentation Technologies, and associated development programmes' within the Nuclear AMRC.


Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) the SRF will lead a team of senior technology officers and research fellows, focusing on the development of new technologies and the enhancement of existing technology programmes, whilst concurrently acting as an advocate for nuclear manufacturing and policies on a national and international scale. This is a high-profile strategic role that requires close engagement and harmonious relationships with the operations, business and supply-chain teams to develop and strengthen our technology portfolio for the following key anchor technologies and development programmes:


?? Analysis and simulation

?? Automation and digitisation

?? Controls and Instrumentation

?? Process verification and validation

?? Automated Manufacturing Platforms

?? Through-life engineering systems

?? Safety Systems Architecture and EQ

?? Modularisation


To deliver these activities and to influence, shape and support the expansion of the Nuclear AMRC's standing as a highly reputable international RD&I organisation, this role will require you to have:


?? An advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or a good honours degree with equivalent and relevant industrial experience).


?? Very good technical knowledge of electrical control and simulation systems, supplemented by a robust record of accomplishment in coordinating integrated strategic manufacturing programmes.


?? Familiarity of nuclear reactor technologies augmented by a competency of codes and standards and code-case development processes.


?? An appreciation of how the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult organisation works with the confidence to engage and support a range of technical groups, forums and workshops within the field of your competency


?? Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, as you will be expected to undertake report writing and deliver presentations aimed at various levels within a Company / Government organisation.


?? Familiarity of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) requirements.


?? Information Technology competencies.
