Sanquhar Academy Cluster

We are seeking to recruit additional teacher primary within Sanquhar Academy Cluster to support the COVID-19 Restart and Recovery Programme. This role is for 0.6FTE and will work 0.2FTE in each of the three schools, Sanquhar Academy, Sanquhar Primary School and Kelloholm Primary School. This position is temporary for up to one year.

The Recovery teacher role at Sanquhar Academy will involve working with targeted groups or individuals with a focus on supporting Literacy and Numeracy. The Recovery teacher will liaise with teaching staff and ASFL to support the needs of students.

The role of the Recovery Teacher in both primary schools will focus on Literacy and Numeracy interventions and supporting the HWB of learners. This may involve releasing other class-based staff to facilitate interventions. Targeted groups, and individuals, will be identified in partnership with SLT.

The successful applicant will undertake a variety of teaching duties as required at different stages to meet the needs of the school and to compensate for any loss of learning suffered by pupils during the COVID-19 lockdown. You will be responsible for aspects of planning, assessment and reporting as directed by the Headteacher.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
