Minibus driver needed for a nursery in the Wanstead for around 30 hours a week. The role is working term time only, 7:30am to 9:30am, and 2pm to 6:30pm

Overview:

The driver is someone who is over 25 years old with a clean D1/ PCV licence and, preferably, experience driving passengers in a 15 seat minibus or similarly sized vehicle. However, assessments will be made using the Company's driving evaluation. the Nursery Drivers understand how integral they are to the functioning of the Nursery and undertake their duties with initiative and care.

Purpose:

** To ensure the safe embarkation, transportation and deportation of children and staff. To ensure that vehicles are well maintained and satisfy all legal requirements.**

How?

Safe Transportation

  • Carry out a daily visual inspection of the vehicle
  • Ensure that all car seats are fitted correctly where relevant and children are strapped in safely
  • If walking children to vehicle, ensure that they are safe and under your control
  • Do not use mobile telephone while driving in accordance mobile phone policy
  • Keep focussed on driving, do not attend to radio, air conditioning etc
  • Ensure that a member of staff is always seated in the back of the bus when transporting children
  • Ensure children are not eating while being transported
  • Always drive in a defensive and careful manner, in accordance with the Highway Code
  • Never exceed the speed limit

Arrival at Destination

  • Ensure that vehicle is stopped in a safe place with exit doors on the pavement side
  • Instruct children to remain seated, with their seatbelts fastened until an adult is prepared to

receive them outside of the vehicle

  • If walking children from vehicle to destination, ensure that they are safe and under your control

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Ensure that all vehicles remain legal by keeping track of renewal dates for MOT, tax, insurances

and parking permits if relevant

  • Ensure that all vehicles are well maintained by diarising maintenance and service checks
  • Ensure that all vehicles are kept clean inside and out.
  • Ensure that fuel levels are maintained

children's tapes, or no music at all.
