Winchcombe Town Council (Tewkesbury Borough)

WINCHCOMBE Town Council is seeking to appoint a Clerk, Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) and Officer for the Burial Authority.

The position is part-time – The 30 hours per week consists of core 20 hours a week office-based (Mon-Fri 9:00am – 1:00pm) working with the Deputy Clerk and a requirement to attend evening meetings with full council normally held on the 1st Wednesday of the month, Committee meetings as arranged, and burials as arranged. There will be a 6-month probationary period to complete.

The role involves setting agendas, attending meetings, preparing minutes and dealing with issues arising from meetings. In addition, liaising where necessary with contractors and suppliers. As the RFO you will be responsible for the maintenance of proper financial records, produce reports for members as required and deal with the audit process. As the officer for the Burial Authority, managing the burial areas, liaising with funeral directors, meeting with members of the public to reserve plots and keeping accurate records.

The successful applicant will be competent in the use of MS Outlook, word and excel.

The successful applicant will preferably have previous experience of working in Local Government or a similar administrative role or have equivalent experience. It is desirable for the candidate to be CiLCA qualified; however adequate resources will be made available for training if required.

Starting salary will be £22,462 per annum calculated on a pro-rata basis for 30 hours and reviewed annually. Winchcombe Town Council is a member of the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) Workplace Pension Scheme which is an employee contributory scheme.
