Help us apply Agile in Procurement
We are looking for an agile focused IT Procurement Manager to partner with a fast-paced IT team, building cutting edge digital products, applying Agile development methodologies.
Cambridge Assessment is undertaking a rapid digital transformation programme which is putting the customer at the heart of everything we do, as we migrate from traditional paper-based examination delivery systems and processes, to computer based delivery.
It's exciting times as Procurement acts as an enabler to meet this challenge, by procuring a broad array of technologies and services using Agile Procurement techniques.
We have already begun pioneering Agile practices in the team and are looking for someone to bring their Agile IT Procurement Management skills and help us evolve even further.
As well as growing your skills and experience further on challenging and stimulating projects, you'll make a difference to projects that will be delivering a real difference to learners across the world.
Leading the way
Providing commercial and contractual leadership for the digital transformation programme, you will implement the procurement strategy in all technology products and services purchases.
As part of a cross functional team for the digital transformation programme, you will lead negotiations with suppliers, whilst influencing internal stakeholders regarding commercial decisions. Ensuring that your personal knowledge of contract legislation is maintained current so that Cambridge Assessment's contract risks are minimised.
Value for money
Developing and managing contractual relationships, with suppliers (large and small) to exploit synergies, consolidate volumes and ensuring value for money by balancing costs, performance and risks, you will also explore synergies with Cambridge University Press and the wider Cambridge University. You will ensure that benefits of contracts are fully understood and exploited for Cambridge Assessment.
Supplier performance
Developing and continuously improving Agile procurement practices you will ensure the rapid delivery of cost-effective high-quality technology products, initially for the programme, and potentially more broadly across Cambridge Assessment.
Responsible for identifying KPI's and benchmarks for suppliers you will gain input from the end user community, and evidence how they demonstrate value for money, providing regular reports on trends and markets to the Senior management teams.
What we're looking for
With a Certificate in Procurement (CIP) and demonstrable experience in a senior Procurement or Supply Chain role, you will also have good knowledge and experience of Agile Procurement, ideally in an IT setting.
In addition to strong negotiation skills you will have a 'Technology mind set' with a demonstrable ability to learn new technologies, their capabilities and understand user stories to formulate effective negotiation strategies and agreement structures. Also, your experience of rationalising the supplier base to generate cost savings is of great interest to us.
Thought leadership and strong influencing skills at all levels are key, as are good presentation and communication skills. With a high degree of literacy, numeracy, and accuracy you will be comfortable analysing financial data, balance sheets, reports and cost centres.
You will have the ability to work on a wide range of procurements simultaneously (mega vendors/small suppliers/SaaS etc.) In addition, you'll have Strategic Supplier Relationship skills, with strong knowledge of standard SLAs and KPIs. Essential is your experience of managing commercial risk mitigation and supplier due diligence.
In terms of systems, we use, Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Atlassian applications Jira and Confluence. Good knowledge of purchasing systems and purchase order approval flow, SAP SRM or similar would be an advantage.
