Job Description
The Education, Skills & Children's Services Department is seeking to add to its list of persons who are willing to act as Relief Janitors throughout Schools in Lewis, Harris, Uists and Barra.
Duties include: carrying out security procedures for school buildings and grounds, including keyholder responsibilities; handyperson duties; day-to-day operation and routine maintenance of boilers and heating plant as instructed; preparing classrooms/halls for school and/or public use; school crossing patrol and general supervision of pupils at intervals and open and close of school; supervision of community lets outwith school hours.
Requirements
You should have: the ability to work effectively on own initiative and also co operatively as part of a team; an organised and effective approach to the full range of janitorial duties; the ability to relate to and control pupils and to deal effectively with misbehaviour; sufficient knowledge to identify faults in the buildings' fabric/fitting/contents; basic handyperson duties; a willingness to respond promptly to emergency call-outs.
