Electronic Design Engineer - Test Equipment - Permanent

Aerospace & Defence - Attractive - Gloucestershire

An Electronic Design Engineer is required in the Test Equipment area and to join an established company with a strong reputation in the aerospace and defence sectors. The Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of electronic and electrical solutions, from concept to detailed design for complex Test Equipment Systems. The Electronic Design Engineer will support the role of Technical Review in the provision of Electronic and Electrical Test Equipment.

Responsibilities of the Electronic Design Engineer will include:

  • Responsible for the definition, development, integration, validation, and verification
  • Electronic and Electrical Solutions in accordance with Quality processes and procedures
  • Demonstrate current knowledge and application of safety and industry standards
  • Design and integration of electronic and electrical solutions into Test Equipment Systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of requirements definition, concept, and design
  • Assist the Test Equipment Manager with the definition of electronic/ electrical solutions
  • Prepare and release documentation in support of the Test Equipment Development Process
  • Participation at technical reviews with peers and Chief Engineers
  • Technical direction for reliability and longevity of electronic and electrical systems
  • Maintenance or upgrade of existing electronic/electrical solutions
  • Maintain and release Documentation during maintenance or upgrade activities
  • Support Root Cause investigations into all aspects of the Test Equipment Systems
  • Identify appropriate training courses to maintain electronic/electrical capabilities
  • Support the Test Equipment Manager with strategies for obsolescence management
  • Ensure all Health & Safety practices are followed & completion/review of Risk Assessments
  • Support internal and external Quality Audits of Test Equipment solutions
  • Actively participate in 5S activities with a continuous improvement program

The Electronic Design Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Bachelor Degree, preferably a Masters, in a relevant Electronic/Electrical subject
  • Experience in the development of Electronic/electrical solutions
  • Knowledge of servo-hydraulic and electromechanical Test Systems
  • Demonstrable commercial experience of analogue and digital electronics design
  • Experience of and engineering and production environment with test equipment
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment to fault find electronic and electrical issues
  • Experience in one or more of the following: eCAD, PCB Software, LabView, DOORS
  • Knowledge of JIRA, MatLab and SubVersion is advantageous.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, VISO and Project
  • Knowledge of PC operating platforms (DOS/ Windows/ Microsoft Environments)
  • Knowledge of Low-Level Programming (C++, Visual Basic).
