Job Description

The Cyber Security Analyst role will work as part of the SOC team to maintain, monitor, and respond to various alerts from monitoring systems to improve the IT security of the customer infrastructure.

As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will primarily focus on the detection, investigation, and resolution of security incidents by applying a blend of your technical skills, experience, and knowledge of security principles. Additionally, you will contribute to the efficiency and maturity of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) team by contributing to tooling, updating, and keeping abreast of the latest patterns and trends within the wider security arena.

Responsibilities

  • To monitor, maintain and protect customer infrastructure, systems and assets for malicious activity typically using technologies such as Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Proactive and reactive security incident handling and escalation to the appropriate teams
  • To respond rapidly and effectively to IT security incidents, managing them in a professional manner
  • Management, tuning and optimisation of security tools following best practices
  • Respond to customers' tickets, emails, and aid with security related issues efficiently
  • To keep up to date with security trends, threats, and control measures
  • Coordinate with customers in relation to cyber security issues and provide future recommendations
  • Requirement to write process documentation, when required
  • Understanding of point tools and if required knowledge transfer to staff and new employees
  • Picking up tools as required, NTX, Darktrace etc
Essential Skills
  • A passion for Cyber Security and enjoy problem solving
  • Knowledge of the security threat landscape
  • Knowledge of various security methodologies and processes, and technical security solutions (firewall and intrusion detection systems)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Protocols, network analysis, and network/security applications
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time effectively
  • Ability to cope successfully under pressure and with shifting priorities
  • Ability to work on a shift rota
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanour
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Experience working with SIEM systems
  • Industry recognised Security and Networking certifications (CCNA, Network+, Security+)
  • Experience working with service desk systems

Additional Information

Candidates must be eligible to obtain National Security Clearance and will be subject to DBS checks

Location: Will be in the Luton Office but will be temporarily remote, in order to be able to cover in an emergency you will need to be located within a 30 minute drive from the Luton Office
