Infrastructure Engineer

You will join us as an Infrastructure Engineer to provide 3rd level support, monitoring and pro-active maintenance for all core college infrastructure, which includes, but is not limited to, Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS and DHCP), networking, VMWare, shared storage, backup technology, firewall and web security. You will work with the Head of ICT Services on new and ongoing ICT system projects to ensure completion and delivery of said project within agreed timescales.

Infrastructure Engineer Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the day to day support and monitoring of all Malvern College's central ICT infrastructure, which includes (but not limited to) Switching network, Central Storage, VMware Virtualisation Platform, Firewalls, Web - - Filtering, Active Directory, Backups and File Services.
- To ensure that all administration processes for said core infrastructure is documented and distributed across ICT Services Team.
- To work with 3rd party support companies to ensure all core infrastructure is patched regularly, and all reported problems are resolved within a reasonable timeframe.
- To work with 3rd line ICT Services personnel to ensure that the core ICT infrastructure provides the required capacity for immediate and future requirements (capacity planning).
- To provide assistance and mentoring with 2nd and 1st line support where needed.
- To be part of the Saturday morning cover rota.
- To provide ongoing support for all ICT Systems and services to the entire Malvern College customers base
- To be a point of contact for customer issues, providing troubleshooting for system and network issues
- To work with the ICT Services Team to help improve existing architecture, system performance, reliability and security.
- To provide cross training to other members of the ICT Services team
- To work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure successful implementation of systems, system upgrades, software upgrades, etc
- To take full ownership of allocated HelpDesk jobs and to keep detailed case notes until the job is complete
- To provide technical input and assistance on ICT projects at the direction of the Head of ICT Services

Hours: 35 hours per week, Full Time, Permanent

Salary: GBP34,663 per annum, plus competitive benefits
