Production Manager

Salary circa GBP30-40k
Plymouth (PL6 7RG)

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing (on site)

This role is all about results, safety and drive. There are challenges to overcome and improvements to make requiring proactive analysis driven leadership and the ability to communicate at all levels to coordinate action internally and externally.

You will be managing end to end high volume production delivery and indirectly a large multi-skilled team of printers, guillotine operators, punch and wiro operators etc. You'll quickly need to understand our products and processes, develop trusted and like minded team leaders and have a background in making time critical commercially astute decisions.

Identify, develop and implement improvements by working closely with the Operations Process Manager. Produce timely and accurate data driven reports to support your own and company wide decision making.

With responsibility for safety and equipment maintenance you'll need to plan training and PPM around the production plan with close liaison with the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager and the maintenance engineer.

As a key member of the local Management team you'll be working to ensure profitability. You will be joining at an exciting time following new equipment procurement and the introduction of performance management, skills development plan and new KPIs.

About You

  • Proven background in a high volume manufacturing role with strong experience in motivating and developing teams
  • Demonstrable 'right first time' approach with quality and cost control as your standard
  • Suitably qualified for managing health and safety (eg IOSH managing safely or recent in house training)
  • Analytical and commercial. Can think creatively to problem solve and present/communicate effectively
  • Delegate but retain ownership; make use of performance management and develop staff
  • Thorough understanding of and previous experience of management tools such as 6S, lean, A3 reporting, visual management etc
  • Must have GCSE Maths and English (A - C) or equivalent
  • Up to date and well practised IT skills, ideally in MS Office suite, & Excel. Previous experience using SAP B1 would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of Arts, Craft or Stationery sector desirable but not essential
