Residential Support Worker Lichfield
Your new company
Hays Social Care works with a variety of children's service providers around the Lichfield area, supporting children and young people with EBD, Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, mental health and complex care needs. Our clients range from small single home organisations, to large national care companies, with multiple homes across the West Midlands.
Your new role
You will be working as a Support Worker within residential care homes, covering a variety of shifts; early/late, long days (with or without sleeps) and/or waking nights, working with children and young people who have a variety of additional needs, who come from a range of backgrounds. You will support and encourage the young people in your care, providing physical, mental and emotional support, promoting their independence and supporting their individual needs, detailed in their care plans. As a Support Worker, when on shift, you will take the role of parent, supporting with household duties including cooking, cleaning, facilitating the school run, taking young people to social activities.
What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People or Residential Childcare (or be working towards this) and have a minimum of 6 months experience of working in a children's residential setting, within the last 2 years. You be a person who is passionate about supporting the needs of young people in residential care, will be able to combine your professional experience and skills to work with the young people on a day to day basis, to promote their independence. You will need to be confident in working with children and young people, be resilient in your approach and able to quickly build positive relationships with both the young people you will support and the staff team.
