Job description:

Do you like working 'hands on'? Are you interested in developing your career with a global manufacturing company, but keen to stay local to Manchester? Are you looking to earn while you learn? If you have answered yes, then look at our Manufacturing Apprenticeship.

About the Role

Essity offers the opportunity for you to join a health and hygiene fast-moving consumer goods business which embraces both innovation and diversity with the goal of making a difference to people's lives. We manufacture many leading brands - Cushelle, Velvet, Plenty, Tork and Bodyform to name a few.
Our manufacturing teams are key to ensuring our customers receive the highest quality toilet and hand tissue products for home use from our production site in Manchester. Working as part of our papermaking team you will receive both academic and on-the-job training to equip you with the skills to be an active member of the team. There is so much technically to learn about our process - our paper machines are surprisingly large (can fill a large sports hall) and complex (running speeds faster than motorway speed limits).

We're looking for people who embody our values, aren't afraid to challenge, innovate, experiment and move at a fast pace. We're always looking for ways to improve our products and ourselves. If this is you, we'd love to talk.

Required profile:

What You Will Do
Our Manufacturing Apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to become an expert process operator working on our industrial scale paper machines. You will spend time learning theory and how to operate all parts of the paper production machinery as well as being able to give input as to how you think we can do things better in the future.
You will study for nationally recognised NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications. These will incorporate all aspects of manufacturing processes, as well as Health, Safety and the Environment and principles of risk management. The training will be delivered on-site and supported by our training provider who will visit you on-site regularly. You will also undertake Essity's own machine-based training modules. You will be responsible for meeting all the training targets and producing a portfolio of evidence to support your learning. You will be supported by a friendly and committed team.
Who You Are
If you have a minimum of 5 x GCSE qualifications at grade 4 / C or above, including Maths, English and Science and have a passion for getting hands-on with manufacturing processes, we would love to hear from you. Depending on your qualifications gained prior to starting with us, your apprenticeship could last up to 4 years.
You'll need to be 18 years old to be considered for this apprenticeship due to the requirement to work shifts. The shift pattern is planned, and you will be working 4 x 12-hours shifts (2-days and 2 nights) followed by 6 days off-shift. Key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance your time between studies and work to ensure success in both. Furthermore, you must be driven to succeed with a positive and committed attitude. The complexity of the process means we are looking for those who can grasp complex working processes, are self-motivated and good at resolving issues. You will also need to demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively.

What we offer:

What We Can Offer You
As an apprentice of today you will become one of our experts of tomorrow. As a global health and hygiene company we are constantly innovating to stay ahead. We take employee development seriously and constantly invest in our people. In return we offer an excellent salary, plus competitive pension scheme, holidays, healthcare provision and bonus opportunity.
What are you waiting for? Kickstart your future and apply online now!
