Our client is a well-established manufacturer, they are looking to increase the effectiveness of their M/C shop and Assembly areas with the appointment of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The role will be both interesting and demanding but offers great career prospects to the successful candidate.
Summary:
Responsible for the planning and design of production methods to improve existing processes utilising current and emerging technologies, striving for waste reduction and greater efficiency within the production areas.
CAD/CAM/CI/Lean/Machine Shop/Production Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/Assembly/Value Stream Mapping
Principal Duties:
- Design for manufacture close liaison with Engineering to review the design for manufacture, drawing requirements and tooling
requirements to meet demand and remove error
- Machine shop review current methods of machining with a view to reducing set ups/ set-up times where possible and increase
run times.
- Assess the current machine tools in use and identify gaps in future technology
- Involvement in the use of IT programs to transfer engineered drawings direct to the machines to help eliminate the need to re
draw e.g. CAD/CAM
- Assembly shop review current build techniques and allocated times to speed up throughput, review the shop layout to
eliminate waste.
- Health and Safety Adhering to the Health and Safety policy at all time
Other Duties:
- Assessment and re organisation of the shop floor to ensure a smooth flow of work and minimal waste
- Review current machine tooling/fixtures to speed up manufacture
- Review non-conformance notes raised in the production areas and identify ways to eliminate re occurrence
- Explore future manufacturing techniques which would benefit the company going forward
- Involvement in make/buy decision making
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum HNC in Engineering/Production Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong Influencing skills
- Project Management skills
- Experience of CI activities
- Use of common methodology such as Takt Time, SMED, Kaizen etc.
- Experience of machining castings
- Knowledge of a wide range of machine tools and their capabilities.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software- Eg EdgeCAM, InventorCAM etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Proven experience in the engineering field.
- Superb analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of 3D printing processes (Additive Layer Manufacturing) and the technology on offer advantageous.
