Are you a qualified electrician with good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills?

Do you have a background in the industrial and commercial sector with knowledge and work experience on LV distribution and control equipment and cubicle assemblies?

The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for several Electricians / Lead Electricians to join their team within the Electrical Engineering department.

The team consists of circa 30 employees and is responsible for a wide range of electrical work in an industrial environment covering installation, commissioning, fault-finding and maintenance and repair work in accordance with the current legislation and codes of practice.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities:
- Installation of indoor and outdoor electrical distribution equipment in compliance with current regulations and local standards
- The construction, wiring and commissioning of electrical control cubicles
- Completing testing, commissioning and fault-finding tasks on various electrical control and distribution equipment
- Maintain high standards of safety at all times and comply with safety procedures
- Prioritise tasks, work to a plan and keep to timescales
- Provide guidance to the UKAEA electrical apprentices

As a Lead Electrician, you will also:
- Supervise daily work of c.2 staff electricians
- Take responsibility for the installation phase of projects, including leading installation teams
- Mentor and supervise the daily work of 2 UKAEA electrical apprentices

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential
- Electrical craft apprenticeship
- City and Guilds 2357 (Level 3) with AM2, or equivalent, updated to BS 7671: 2018
- Work experience in an industrial/commercial environment
- Must demonstrate the ability to work safely in accordance with a written safe system of work (WSSOW)
- Work and communicate as part of a team
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to prioritise and balance the workload

Desirable
- City and Guilds 2395 (inspection and testing) or equivalent
- Work experience on large distribution networks
- Supervisory experience (Lead Electrician)

Special requirements:
- This role may require regular overtime to be worked
- On-call duties may also apply
