Grade & Salary: 8, GBP43,748 rising to GBP48,317 over four years

Role Purpose

Working as part of the ICT Management Team, the post holder will lead the Application Support Team in its role of supporting applications within the ICT service catalogue, database services and live GIS services.

Owning and overseeing NRW's application and GIS Technical Roadmaps, the role has a key influence in shaping the ICT strategy and facilitating the transformation of NRWs digital services platform and digital tools. The post holder will therefore need to balance necessary innovation with the need to maintain current business critical services, whilst delivering within budget.

The post holder will constantly assess and manage challenges associated with the performance of current applications and GIS services, horizon scanning to ensure that there is sufficient capacity and resilience to support the future demand and the development of NRWs digital strategy.

The post holder will work within the Strategy, Design, Transition, Operations and Service Improvement phases of the ITIL lifecycle.


There will be a continuous expectation that costs are controlled as our service portfolio continues to expand and the digital strategy is delivered.

Qualifications and Skills

?? Experience of managing multiple teams.

?? Excellent communication, design and problem-solving skills and strong understanding of development methodologies & languages.

?? Strong understanding and knowledge of managing a support model for Microsoft Cloud technologies (Office 365, SharePoint Online, CRM Online, Azure), ESRI GIS Applications including service administration, management and licensing.

Detailed knowledge of the technical and operational processes used to deploy, support and maintain dispersed resilient applications and services.

?? Degree level qualification in ICT related subject or equivalent qualification/experience.

?? ITIL Foundation or greater.

?? TOGAF?? or other relevant Enterprise Architecture ICT certifications.

?? Project management experience (PRINCE2 or similar).

?? demonstrable awareness of the financial impact of strategic / operational decisions and the ability to identify opportunity for cost reductions.

?? Experience of Service Management and Delivery.
