Protocol Education are seeking innovative SEND Teaching Assistants for an Alternative Secondary School in the Wakefield area supporting students with complex learning difficulties for supply work that will lead to full time positions for the right candidates.
This is a varied role where every day is different! The position involves classroom involvement as well as vocational support to ensure pupils are upskilled for life outside of school. There are numerous lunchtime clubs and activities tailored to meet students individual needs. If you feel you can help to make a difference in a student's life, if you work with great positive energy and resilience, then this could be the role for you.
Students at the school have a range of varied needs, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and medical needs. The schools caters for children with Social, Emotional and Mental health issues and Autism. The students can occasionally display challenging behaviours so and some experience working with challenging behaviour would be prefereble, although it's by no means essential. The main traits we are looking for in applicants are adaptability, versatility and a real drive to encourage children to overcome their barriers.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and will work effectively both on their own initiative and in a team; You will be able to communicate effectively and appropriately with the children, supporting each student with their individual needs. You must be willing to attend any necessary training; and be reliable and trustworthy.
