We are looking for a caring and committed individual with a passion for justice and a structured approach to join a thriving community hub and resource centre, as an Advocate. This exciting new role forms part of an expansion of services to members across West Yorkshire.
Position: Advocate
Location: Cross Green, Leeds - with outreach responsibilities across West Yorkshire
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: GBP21,589 - GBP22,911 pro rata, NJC Scale Points 12-15, annual review and increment within scale
Contract: 12-month initial contract with extension subject to further funding

The organisation runs a number of community facing and strategic projects to achieve aims including advocacy, community development and youth work. Recognised as being innovative, brave and creative, the overall aim is to improve quality of life for Gypsies and Travellers through addressing inequalities in homes, health, education, and employment, financial and social inclusion.
The Role
As Advocate, you will be providing a high quality and accessible advocacy service, mainly via outreach or telephone support, to Gypsy and Traveller individuals and their families. You will be working holistically to improve wellbeing, promote and support self-advocacy through providing information, signposting and support. You will be establishing and maintaining a range of new partnerships in support of your work. Members will be at the heart of this service, co-producing, setting campaigns and objectives.

Please note due to current circumstances you will be required to do some work from home, with desk space at the office on a booking basis and outreach appointments being risk assessed.
About You
As an Advocate, you will be able to encourage, inspire and help people to build on their own strengths. You will be solution focussed, creative, brave and ready to make an impact within the community.
You will bring you experience and knowledge of:
* Advocacy principles and practice.
* Working with groups or individuals experiencing exclusion and the barriers they face.
* Working with vulnerable people.
* Relevant legislation and rights, in relation to housing, welfare, family, health and equalities.
* Working within a safeguarding framework - making decisions and sharing information.
* Recording, monitoring and evaluation.
* Risk management and associated processes.
You will be:
* Committed to person centred working and able to build trusting and effective relationships.
* Able to develop partnerships based on shared goals and values.
* Resilient with an awareness of self-care.
* Self-motivated and able to manage own workload independently.
* Commitment to personal development, learning and reflective practice
To fulfil this role, you will need to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
