Occupational Health Screening Nurse
Based across two sites x2 days Worthing NHS & x 1 day Chichester
Hours: 08.30 - 16.30

Our Screening Nurses support the Occupational Health Team in delivering proactive Health Screening and Health Surveillance for client organisations. They will assist in managing, providing and developing occupational health services in line with Team Prevent standards, evidence based Occupational Health Practices and legislative requirements. They will work as an integral part of the Occupational Health team and make an important contribution towards development of the service and process improvement.
The Screening Nurses ensure that they have a good understanding of the job roles and policies within the client organisation that they are providing a service to, which enables them to ascertain fitness for work statements based on a sound knowledge of the job role and relevant legislation. The feedback provided is therefore factual and limited to outcome statements related to an individual's functional ability and fitness for specific work, with any advised restrictions.
With this knowledge they are also able to educate employees on the beneficial aspects of baseline screening and health surveillance and to help them understand that health surveillance is mandatory where the risk assessment has identified the need.
The Screening Nurse's are also responsible for:
* Administering appropriate immunisations and vaccines at required time and following appropriate clinical practice and Green Book guidance
* Undertaking blood tests as and when required for the appropriate purpose and carry out follow up action as necessary.
* Participating in Health and Well Being initiatives to encourage staff to take responsibility for their health and improve working lives. Provide informed advice on healthier lifestyles, working with outside agencies where appropriate.
* Taking ownership of the Know your Numbers or Smoking Cessation programme's at on-site clients.

* Participate in relevant training to maintain and develop clinical and managerial practices, taking responsibility for own personal and professional development.
* Be a Registered Nurse (Adult) on part 1 or 2 of the NMC register
* Have undergone training in spirometry, audiometry, immunisation and vaccination and venepuncture.
* Be aware of Health and Safety legislation and health surveillance requirements under COSH.
* Ensure PREP requirements are met
* Have intermediate IT skills
